Where standard PowerStep™ models rely on a single motor, the XTreme's dual-motor setup delivers superior strength and reliability, making it the ideal choice for drivers who regularly face extreme climates, heavy off-road use, or punishing weather conditions. A rigid cast aluminum construction with stainless steel hinge pins rounds out the heavy-duty build, giving the XTreme the structural integrity to take far more abuse than conventional power running boards. All aluminum components are anodized before receiving a military-grade PTFE coating, creating a layered defense against corrosion, oxidation, and surface wear — whether you're dealing with road salt, mud, or constant moisture exposure.

The PowerStep™ XTreme also features an extra-wide 6-inch, non-slip step surface for maximum traction in any conditions, along with integrated LED convenience lights that illuminate automatically when the steps deploy — lighting up the step surface and surrounding area to prevent slips and ensure safe, confident entry and exit regardless of the time of day.

PowerStep™ XTreme running boards are vehicle-specific for a precise, factory-style fit. On compatible newer applications, a Plug-N-Play harness connects directly to your vehicle's OBD-II port for a straightforward, no-splice installation. Maintenance Notes

In adverse conditions, debris such as mud, dirt, and road salt can become trapped in the running board mechanism, potentially causing unwanted noise or binding. To keep your PowerStep™ XTreme operating smoothly, periodic cleaning is recommended — or any time debris buildup is suspected.

To prepare for cleaning, manually set the boards to the deployed position by opening the door, placing firm foot pressure on the step, and closing the door while maintaining that pressure. This will hold the steps in the deployed position for easy access to the linkage points.

Using a pressure washer, thoroughly clean all four linkage hinge points — the front and rear linkages on each side. Avoid spraying the motors directly. Once clean, apply dry silicone spray lubricant to all four linkage arms and all pivot pins, including any pins located higher up on the linkage arm. Cycle the door afterward to work the lubricant into the hinge points.

Do not apply silicone, wax, or protectants such as Armor All® to the step surface. Do not lubricate with grease, oil, WD-40, or any penetrant.

Installation

AMP Research PowerStep™ XTreme running boards include everything needed to get the job done — all hardware, brackets, and vehicle-specific instructions are provided in the kit. Note that installation does require some drilling and wire splicing, so professional installation is recommended. For additional guidance, a video installation guide is also available.

5-Year Limited Warranty

  • What is Covered: All defects in materials or workmanship on select AMP Research branded products properly installed per provided instructions except those listed below under the Three Year Warranty. This warranty does not apply to any product from AMP Research direct or indirect subsidiaries.
  • For How Long: This warranty, and any implied warranties including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, lasts five years from the date of purchase. The warranty expires if the product is removed from the original vehicle or if the original vehicle is transferred to another owner. The warranty is not transferable from the original purchaser.
  • What These Warranties Will Not Cover: These warranties does not cover any damage, defect, or malfunction caused by misuse, abuse, accident, improper installation, modification, improper or inadequate maintenance, or on-road and offroad hazards. Incidental and consequential damages are not recoverable under this warranty. Some states or providence do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so this exclusion or limitation may not apply to you.
  • What AMP Research Will Do: During the applicable warranty period listed above, AMP Research will, at its option, either repair or replace any defective product at no additional charge. You must pay any labor charges associated with removing or reinstalling the product. If a specific product has been discontinued, AMP Research may, at its option, replace your product with a current product of comparable function and value.
