The PowerStep™ Smart Series is built with heavy-duty anodized cast-aluminum steps and hinges, paired with corrosion-resistant stainless steel hinge pins for a rock-solid foundation. Both step surfaces receive a military-grade PTFE coating, adding an extra layer of defense against corrosion and wear — keeping your steps looking and performing like new for years to come.

Accessibility is where the Smart Series truly shines. A full-length, oversized 6-inch wide step surface, integrated LED courtesy lights, and over a foot of drop from the door sill plate on most applications make getting in and out of the cab noticeably easier for every passenger — whether you're running a stock pickup or a lifted rig on oversized tires.

Like all PowerStep™ products, the Smart Series automatically deploys when a door opens and retracts when it closes — no input needed. But the Smart Series goes a step further with AMP Research's built-in smartphone integration, giving you full manual override capability from your iOS or Android device. Maintenance Notes

In adverse conditions, debris such as mud, dirt, and road salt can become trapped in the running board mechanism, potentially causing unwanted noise or binding. To keep your PowerStep™ Smart Series operating smoothly, periodic cleaning is recommended — or any time debris buildup is suspected.

To prepare for cleaning, manually set the boards to the deployed position by opening the door, placing firm foot pressure on the step, and closing the door while maintaining that pressure. This will hold the steps in the deployed position for easy access to the linkage points.

Using a pressure washer, thoroughly clean all four linkage hinge points — the front and rear linkages on each side. Avoid spraying the motors directly. Once clean, apply dry silicone spray lubricant to all four linkage arms and all pivot pins, including any pins located higher up on the linkage arm. Cycle the door afterward to work the lubricant into the hinge points.

Do not apply silicone, wax, or protectants such as Armor All® to the step surface. Do not lubricate with grease, oil, WD-40, or any penetrant.

Installation

The PowerStep™ Smart Series installs using included vehicle-specific mounting brackets, all necessary hardware, and a detailed instruction guide. Each kit also comes with a Plug-N-Play wiring harness and module, allowing the step's wiring to integrate cleanly into your vehicle's factory electrical system with minimal cutting, splicing, or modification. Due to the wiring involved, professional installation or an experienced DIYer is recommended.

5-Year Limited Warranty

  • What is Covered: All defects in materials or workmanship on select AMP Research branded products properly installed per provided instructions except those listed below under the Three Year Warranty. This warranty does not apply to any product from AMP Research direct or indirect subsidiaries.
  • For How Long: This warranty, and any implied warranties including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, lasts five years from the date of purchase. The warranty expires if the product is removed from the original vehicle or if the original vehicle is transferred to another owner. The warranty is not transferable from the original purchaser.
  • What These Warranties Will Not Cover: These warranties does not cover any damage, defect, or malfunction caused by misuse, abuse, accident, improper installation, modification, improper or inadequate maintenance, or on-road and offroad hazards. Incidental and consequential damages are not recoverable under this warranty. Some states or providence do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so this exclusion or limitation may not apply to you.
  • What AMP Research Will Do: During the applicable warranty period listed above, AMP Research will, at its option, either repair or replace any defective product at no additional charge. You must pay any labor charges associated with removing or reinstalling the product. If a specific product has been discontinued, AMP Research may, at its option, replace your product with a current product of comparable function and value.
