AMP Research PowerStep Override Switch

The AMP Research® PowerStep™ is designed to deploy and retract automatically — but what if you need manual control? The PowerStep™ Override Switch gives you exactly that. This sleek, flush-mount 3-position toggle switch mounts cleanly to your dash, center console, or any convenient surface, putting full step control right at your fingertips.

The switch features three positions — retract, automatic, and deploy — letting you manually retract or deploy your running boards with a simple push. Leave it in the center position and your PowerStep™ continues operating automatically as designed. Whether you need to lock the steps retracted for off-road use or deploy them for cleaning and servicing, the Override Switch makes it effortless.

Installation is equally straightforward. An included Plug-N-Play wiring harness integrates directly into your existing PowerStep™ wiring with no splicing required. Physically mounting the switch is just as simple — mark your preferred location, drill the appropriate hole, and snap it into place. If you're running a newer truck and want to skip the switch altogether, the PowerStep™ Vision offers full app-based control as an upgrade option.

Like all PowerStep™ products, the Override Switch is backed by an industry-leading 5-year limited warranty.

How to Order

• Visually inspect your PowerStep’s controller or check the Install Guide for your PowerSteps to find your controller type. (You will need to know your PowerStep’s part number to look up the install guide.)
• If you do not know the part number for your PowerSteps, you can find it by navigating to the appropriate PowerStep page and filling out the vehicle selector: Original PowerStep, PowerStep XL, or PowerStep XTreme
• If your PowerSteps already have an STA, STB or XTA Dual-Plug Controller, you do NOT need a new controller, and should order 79106-01A (most common option).
• ONLY order the kit with an STA controller if you have an existing Single-Plug A-04 or A-06 Controller.
• ONLY order the kit with an STB controller if you have an existing Single-Plug B-03 or B-05 Controller.

Important Notes

Running boards will return to auto operation in the next door cycle after 30 minutes.

Installation

The AMP Research PowerStep Override Switch features a simple installation; drilling is required. Plug-and-play harnesses are included in each order, ensuring quick integration into your PowerStep’s original wiring.
